Hospitality by DWTC wins top accolades at Salon Culinaire 2017

Building on an award-winning legacy, Hospitality by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) snagged a total of 51 accolades including the title of 'Best effort of single establishment in the UAE' at this year's Emirates Salon Culinaire, the internationally-acclaimed culinary competition hosted at Gulfood 2017.

A core team of 45 chefs from DWTC participated in the five-day event, showcasing their culinary skills across multiple categories including Five-course Plated Menu, Practical Butchery, Ice Carving, and Pastry Showpiece.

The chefs bagged 10 gold medals in team ice carving, single ice carving, practical lamb butchery, practical fish and seafood, as well as a gold in practical Emirati cuisine. In addition, the hospitality team also brought home 15 silver medals, 26 bronze, and the coveted title of 'Best effort of single establishment in the UAE.'

"At Dubai World Trade Centre, we have a dynamic training scheme in place to ensure that we are always on a journey to enhance our culinary prowess," said Chef Raimund Haemmerle, Executive Chef at DWTC and team mentor. "Our hospitality team continues to push boundaries, build new skillsets, and deliver culinary excellence. We are truly proud of our chefs who gave such a stellar performance at Salon Culinaire."

"The week during Gulfood is one of our busiest when it comes to catering and hospitality, so to see our chefs balance work and win accolades in the competition is a huge feat," he added.

The Emirates Salon Culinaire is a celebrated culinary competition which tests the gastronomic presentation and timing skills of professional chefs from the region. The prestigious competition is judged by a panel of esteemed individuals who are certified from the World Association of Chefs Societies, the global network of chefs associations.

Hospitality by DWTC has witnessed year-on-year growth in business as it continues to deliver diverse end-to-end catering solutions. Some of the team's biggest contracts to date in off-site catering include the Etihad F1 Grand Prix, the Dubai Tour, and the Dubai Airshow.

With over 148 chefs from 19 different nationalities and 5 continents, DWTC's ultramodern kitchen, spanning over 3,650m² of working area, allows for full in-house production and has been awarded the highest Dubai Municipality rating every year since opening in 2003. With over 35 years of market experience and recently installed state-of-the-art equipment across the catering operation, the kitchen has a capacity output of 20,000 daily covers.
