Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the region’s leading venue operator and exhibitions and events organiser, has revealed more than 200,000 visitors will experience its diverse December calendar of world-class exhibitions, key-note conferences, exclusive concerts and blockbuster international musicals.
With 21 events scheduled throughout the festive season, DWTC’s varied end-of-year offering demonstrates the venue’s multi-purpose flexibility and services, reinforces Dubai’s status as the region’s leading business hub and triumphs the city’s credentials as a globally-recognised leisure tourism destination.
“December does not represent a quiet month in our business calendar - it is full steam ahead,” said Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues, DWTC. “With everything from jewellery, food and property to transport, training and entertainment, December’s stunning range of themed events will increase footfall at DWTC and bring the added fillip of attracting high volumes of business and consumer visitors to Dubai. As the global events industry continues its upward trend, DWTC is showcasing its ability to attract major regional and international names to the Emirate.”
Two of the year’s most anticipated events, Chicago and Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, headline the December calendar.
The longest-running American musical in Broadway history, Chicago runs from December 21 – January 3 and tells a tale of fame and fortune via a catalogue of show-stopping tunes appealing to audiences of all ages.
Brought to DWTC by Cirque du Soleil, The Immortal World Tour showcases the legendary music of Michael Jackson combined with the infamous theatrical production of Cirque du Soleil. Lifelong fans of the ‘King of Pop’, general music lovers, and dance and visual effects enthusiasts can see the show from December 29 – January 14.
DWTC also welcomes a line-up of regional and international acts in December, including Lebanese singer, composer and oud player, Marcel Khalife (December 3), Indian singer Asha Bhosle (December 13), and Pakistani performer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (December 20). Completing the month’s music line-up, a KPOP concert of South Korean pop music will play on December 6, while Video Games Live - a concert series touring the world featuring live orchestrated music from video games – takes place on December 13.
Organised by DWTC, the Dubai International Jewellery Week runs from December 4 – 7 and showcases dazzling design and innovation from 350 leading exhibitors from over 25 countries. Now in its 18th year, the exhibition attracts around 22,000 visitors to view new collections, precious stones and award-winning artistry, and attend industry-focused trade forums. With gold topping the list of Dubai’s exports last year, this meeting of international manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and industry professionals promises to bring a sparkle to the approaching festive season.
DTWC also hosts three of the region’s major traffic, transportation and logistics events: Gulf Traffic 2013, MultiModal Exhibition and TOC Middle East Exhibition and Conference. Co-located from December 9 – 11, these conferences will attract exhibitors and business professionals interested in roads, public transport and parking, logistics and commercial transportation, as well as the maritime trade and container terminal supply chain sectors.
The Indian Property Show, the world’s largest Indian property exhibition, will take place at DWTC for the 7th year from 12 – 14 December. The three-day show boasts more than 400 projects exhibited by over 100 developers and attracts a footfall of more than 150,000 visitors. At the exhibition, visitors can also attend property and investment seminars by some of the world’s most influential property industry gurus, global fund managers, and legal advisers.
Now established as a regular fixture on Dubai’s event calendar, the 28th annual International Autumn Trade Fair (IATF) takes place from December 16 – 18. The fair remains a leading buyer-seller meeting ground for the MENA region’s consumer goods segment and attracts more than 10,000 visitors.
The Dubai Drink Technology Expo (DDTE) will see over 10,000 professionals from the international beverage industry network and discuss the latest market developments, innovations and emerging trends from December 16-18. An important date in the calendar for regional buyers, suppliers, investors and manufacturers, DDTE plays an important role in the transfer of technology and innovations in this expansive industry.
For the consumer audience, December’s calendar of events features the 10th annual Mother, Baby and Child Show (December 11 – 13), as well as two already closed shows, Middle East Natural and Organic Products Expo (December 3 – 5) and the China Homelife Show (also December 3 – 5).
Rounding off an exciting and diverse month, DWTC will host The Training and Development Show (December 10 – 11) and the Media and Marketing Show (December 15-17). Both forums will attract professionals from their respective industries for networking, demonstrations and discuss forums tackling the key industry technologies and trends as they look towards 2014.
