The strong growth is driven by an enhanced offering from many of the region’s leading anchor shows, including Arab Health Exhibition & Congress and Gulfood¸ as well as more robust calendar of trade events, conferences and concerts.

Keeping this momentum going as we push for even more ambitious targets is a top priority.”
The health care sector, an industry valued at $80billion globally, is providing the biggest boost to DWTC’s Q1 figures, with five core industry events – Arab Health Exhibition & Congress, The UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC), the Middle East Wounds and Scar Meeting, the International Family Medicine Conference & Exhibition (IFM), and the region’s leading pharmaceutical event, DUPHAT.
Arab Health Exhibition & Congress, the region’s leading healthcare exhibition, will conclude a packed January 2014 schedule for DWTC. Running from 27 – 30 January, the congress places Dubai at the epicentre of the booming healthcare industry with 85,000 visitors expected to attend.
Following Arab Health, The UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition, AEEDC will run its 18th edition from 4 – 6 February. AEEDC is now ranked the world’s second largest dental event, underscoring the importance of the MENA region to the sector’s growth. AEEDC 2014 is expected to draw more than 1,500 of the world’s thought-leaders on dentistry along with 30,000 visitors.
From 10 – 12 March, the annual focal point of the MENA region’s burgeoning pharmaceutical industry, DUPHAT, will feature more than 300 exhibitors and is expected to surpass its record 15,000 visitor attendance set in 2013.
“Dubai’s upgrade to emerging markets status, as well as its recent awarding of Expo 2020, has driven significant global interest in the destination,” added Alkhaja. “Exhibitors and visitors alike are seeking to capitalise on Dubai’s momentum to further their interests in the region. Recognising the business value that events deliver to the region, we are set to push key industries forward with a calendar of events that drive growth in a variety of key strategic sectors.”
In addition to healthcare, other core sectors featuring prominently at DWTC include food and beverage, humanitarian, luxury, consumer and technology.
Kicking off the 2014 calendar, Intersec will welcome more than 21,000 visitors and nearly 1,100 exhibitors from 116 countries from 19 – 21 January for its biggest showing to date. A crucial platform for the sector to forge new partnerships regionally, it will be a significant showcase of the latest technology and techniques expected to shape the security industry for the coming years.
The world’s largest annual food and hospitality industry tradeshow, Gulfood, makes its return in the last week of February. Running for a full week for the first time, the 19th Gulfood will welcome 20,000 brands and 4,500 exhibitors along with 121 national pavilions from 23 – 27 February. The show has grown by 27,000m² to accommodate the 80,000 expected visitors.
Following shortly after, the DWTC-organised Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) returns to the emirate’s shores from 4 - 8 March, drawing trade and consumer visitors alike. One of the most highly anticipated annual maritime events, DIBS will attract tens of thousands visitors from across the globe.
CABSAT - the leading professional content management event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia - will celebrate its 20th anniversary from 11 – 13 March. Hosting visitors from 110 countries, CABSAT will welcome over 900 exhibitors and more than 12,000 visitors looking to invest and secure profitable growth amongst digital sectors in the MENA market for media and broadcast, which is estimated to surpass $2 billion by 2015.
Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition (DIHAD) also returns for its 11th year from 25 – 27 March. Organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, and with the support of the United Nations, DIHAD provides a necessary platform for world leaders to meet and discuss the humanitarian needs of the region’s societies.
Additional exhibitions scheduled this quarter include Middle East Electricity, Middle East Rail 2013, Offshore Arabia Exhibition & Conference, Paperworld Middle East & Playworld Middle East, Arablab Exhibition, AGRA Middle East Exhibition, and Arab Oil & Gas Exhibition.
DWTC has also seen a surge in live entertainment events, helping further diversify its business portfolio. Having started the year with Chicago and Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour show by Cirque du Soleil, DWTC, in collaboration with M Premiere, will host Dubai Classics from 6 – 8 February. Building on the successful momentum of last year’s debut Dubai Music Week, classical aficionados will be treated to concerts from world renowned, soprano legend, Sarah Brightman, and regional icon, Magida El Roumi.
This quarter also features highly anticipated performances including one of the region’s most prolific singers, Amr Diab Live in Concert as well as the Persian DJ Festival, Mika Singh Live in Concert, Gad El Maleh, a French comedy show, Nairooz concert, and Elias Rahbani.
