Dubai International Jewellery Week, the Middle East’s most influential jewellery event, is set to shine once again at Dubai World Trade Centre from 4 to 7 December 2013, meeting the unrepentant consumer demand for fine jewellery, precious stones, diamonds, pearls and watches.
UAE residents and tourists spent a total of AED10.2 billion on gold and jewellery in 2012, while the final quarter of the year saw a 6% increase in jewellery spending, up from AED1.4 billion to AED1.5 billion, according to Dubai Customs.
With the UAE economy forecast to grow by 3.3% in 2013, and the GCC economy to reach a record high of US$1.46 trillion, consumer spending should remain strong, which bodes well for the 350 exhibitors from more than 25 countries who have signed up to participate in the sold-out show this year.
The four-day show will welcome 120 new exhibitors from Australia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Portugal, and more, attracting leading international brands, regional manufacturers and distributors, retailers, jewellery designers and buyers who wish to source the best quality jewellery at the best prices.
Dubai International Jewellery Week is one of the most glitzy social and jewellery shopping events in the Dubai calendar, bringing never before seen pieces to the Middle East.

Jewellers who have signed up for the exhibition include UAE companies such as Dhamani Jewels, Mahallati Jewellery, Al Masaood Jewellery and Renee Jewellers. Visitors can also look forward to a wide range of international representation such as Monique Creations Inc. from New York, Taka Jewellery from Singapore, Yessayan Jewellery from Beirut and new this year, Temptations from Hong Kong.

The awards consists of 9 categories with Emerging Designer categories including Arabic Influenced Jewellery Design, Asian Influenced Jewellery Design and Emirati Jewellery Designer of the Year, open to local aspiring UAE national designers. Among the highlights of the Professional Designers categories are the Bridal Jewellery Set Design and Objet D’Art Award. New at Dubai International Jewellery Week is the Futuristic Jewellery Award and CAD/CAM Technology Award to acknowledge the best use of creativity and technological know-how.
Winners of the Jewellery Design Awards walk away with a trophy and prizes awarded by GIA Middle East, the world’s foremost authority in gemology. A prototype of the winning pieces will be manufactured for display by the National Institute of Vocational Education.
GIA Middle East will additionally be conducting daily seminars at Dubai International Jewellery Week. Leaving no stone unturned, visitors will learn all there is to know about diamonds and jewellery, from making the perfect purchase to taking proper care of their favourite jewels.
