Ahmed Alkhaja, Vice President – Venues Management, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) said: “We are delighted to once again be working with some of the largest football clubs in Europe and the region. Last year’s tournament saw a great success and this year, in cooperation with Dubai Sports Council, we have expanded the international and regional participation, which means a bigger and better championship.”
“Through Dubai Sports World and the Dubai Indoor Football Championship, we want to nurture the sporting community and provide both, residents and visitors the opportunity to experience world-class football. The event has firmly placed Dubai on the map as a premiere sports destination, and we will focus on providing the infrastructure that facilitates even bigger events in the future,” he added
Ali Al Mutawa, Director of Corporate Resources at Dubai Sports Council (DSC) said: “Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is keen to extend its continued support to the Dubai International Football Championship, which is the result of a fruitful cooperation between DSC and DWTC, and a successful model of collaboration between national entities.”
“In its second year now, the championship has become a significant addition to Dubai’s sports calendar after a successful inaugural edition last year. Dubai’s position and organisational expertise, in addition to the good selection of participating teams, have together played a major role in securing triumph to all parties. This championship is a key part of Dubai Sports World, the major summer sports event that efficiently contributes to building a healthier community in Dubai by providing all members of the society, particularly youngsters, an exceptional opportunity to utilise the state-of-art sports facilities during the schools summer break,” added Al Mutawa.
Vikram Krishna Head – Group Marketing and Branding, Emirates NBD, commented: “As a leading financial institution, Emirates NBD has always been a keen supporter of leading sporting events that are of interest to the UAE population, and football is extremely popular, both among nationals and expatriates. We are extremely glad to once again support the Dubai Indoor Football Championship, and congratulate Dubai World Trade Center and Dubai Sports Council on this excellent initiative, which will give regional spectators an opportunity to watch the internationally known football legends and our own former UAE national players in action. This event kicks off a week after the conclusion of the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, and will thus keep the football spirit alive.”
