Dubai Classics Concludes on a High Note

Lebanese soprano legend, Magida El Roumi, closed the curtains on the inaugural classical music festival, Dubai Classics. Performing songs from her latest album, Ghazal, Magida entertained a sold-out crowd at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). She brought her fans to their feet when she performed songs such as “Kalimat” and “Ya Beirut”, which have made her a timeless icon to the region.

Wrapping up a fantastic weekend of musical talent with Sarah Brightman on the first two nights, Magida El Roumi delighted fans from across the region with a memorable concert marking her 40th year as a performer.

“What better way to conclude our first classical music festival than have one of the region’s most sought-after artists perform to thousands of fans,” commented Issam Kazim, Director of DXB Live. “Magida El Roumi is an iconic singer and the sold-out hall last night has clearly demonstrated that there is a huge appetite for classical music in the UAE. The momentum created this weekend ensures that Dubai Classics will become a staple to Dubai’s yearly entertainment calendar.”

The three day music extravaganza, sponsored by Emirates Airline, dazzled thousands of fans with a mix of western and oriental classical music, enhancing Dubai’s position as the ever growing entertainment hub of the region. Sarah Brightman, the world’s best- selling soprano artist, made her first stop in the region to promote her world tour album, Dreamchaser. The singer conquered the first two nights of Dubai Classics promoting some of her top-selling songs such as “Angel” and “One day like this”.

With an ongoing dynamic events calendar, DWTC has hosted an impressive roster of top artists from around the world, bringing traditional and western music to the various nationalities across the emirate and beyond.
