On 25 September 2019, Hazza Al Mansouri became the first Emirati in space, and the first Arab to travel to the International Space Station. His achievement sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the nation’s youth – making now the ideal moment for Dubai to hold the Young Professionals in Space Conference.
Hosted by The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, Young Professionals in Space is an initiative that brings scientists, practitioners, engineers and the leaders of space industry agencies together in a single platform, where they can discuss research breakthroughs, technical advances, existing opportunities and emerging space technologies.
The event’s aim is also to ‘seize the moment’, by offering younger generations an exciting and holistic view into the fields of science, engineering and space technology – and providing them with unbeatable direct access to professionals and experts from around the world.
Attendees have the chance to explore the rigorous training involved in becoming an astronaut, and study the journey taken by the country’s pioneering volunteers. They can also learn about the final preparatory stages and scientific objectives for launching the Hope Spacecraft, the Emirates’ Mars Mission scheduled for lift-off in 2020, as well as immerse themselves in areas such as the UAE’s innovative satellite telecommunications industry.
