Family medicine is, in many ways, the heart of integrated medical care, in every community and every society. Physicians and other professionals working in this field are effectively the patient frontline: across diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
This premise is the force behind The International Family Medicine Conference and Exhibition (IFM), an annual event that takes place alongside the Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition (DUPHAT).
IFM’s 7th edition, in 2020, features a scientific agenda reflective of the latest trends in healthcare, such as the evolving role of technology, value-based outcomes and the future of chronic diseases including diabetes and hypertension. Sessions this year will also touch on the latest in paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology and geriatric medicine. In addition, IFM 2020 focuses on issues including mental health, vaccinations and emergency medicine, and how family physicians can deal with such situations.
IFM’s overarching aims are to highlight the important role of family physicians; promote the ethics and standards of the primary healthcare system through continuous education and knowledge transfer; and draw attention to healthcare policies and healthy lifestyle patterns.
Each IFM features influential speakers and thought-leaders, plus continuing education courses and networking events. Attendees can gain valuable Continuing Medical Education points through their participation.
