Urban development and infrastructure specialists are well advised to diarise 25 to 27 September and to make sure they don't miss the Big 5 Outdoor Design and Build Show. The event is held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development, and is supported by the Dubai Municipality, Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, and the Federal Transport Authority. Given that the Dubai government has targeted 12,200 hectares of green space by 2020, this endorsement says volumes about the importance of this event in the region.
Each year the show attracts thousands of key decision makers, city planners, investors, architects and developers, as well as both new-to-market and established suppliers keen to show off their latest technologies. For this year's conference, visitors can expect to see exhibitions in the landscaping, water technology, infrastructure and urban development as well as outdoor design and build. It is worth mentioning that last year there were already capital and infrastructure projects worth US$ 172 billion underway, with a further US$ 194 billion earmarked for contracts to be won. While the local focus for 2017 falls on Dubai's commitment to creating more sustainable outdoor environments, there will continue to be other standard local projects (such as the US$ 6.8 billion Mall of the World project) and large regional projects (such as KSA's King Abdullah's Economic City valued at US$ 27 billion) available for tender during the conference.
As the region’s only platform dedicated to leaders in outdoor design and urban development, the event will bring together local and international pioneers to showcase the region’s most groundbreaking and innovative outdoor projects. Over the course of the event, there will be a series of briefing days to provide the industry with exclusive 360-degree project updates from concept through to completion. With around 8,500 attendees on both sides of the business equation and more than 16,000 networking meetings recorded at the last event, the Big 5 Outdoor Design and Build Show simply should not be missed.
