In June 2019, the UAE paved the way for the first-ever train line between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, awarding two contracts worth AED 4.4bn for 310km of freight track. This was a major milestone in the long-term plan for railways to link the Gulf region. It also put the sector at the forefront of discussions around future transportation, infrastructure and logistics – discussions that Middle East Rail is designed to inspire and facilitate.
Focusing on trends in innovation, technology and strategy, Middle East Rail attracts 5,500 attendees, more than 300 speakers and similar numbers of sponsors and exhibitors. It has evolved into a wide-ranging event, co-located with Smart Mobility, a two-track conference that explores the technology and innovation involved in urban mobility and emerging smart transport infrastructure models.
New features for 2020 will include the Autonomous Vehicles theatre, a forum where key executives debate the future of personal vehicles.
In addition, the Transport Infrastructure theatre will enable government authorities, investors and the engineering and construction communities to explore the challenges in building intelligent transport infrastructure projects. The show will also host its important Startup Innovation Stream, where entrepreneurs can showcase their latest products, and forge partnerships with investors, incubators and accelerators.
The event also features VIP Track, an exclusive, invitation-only conference constructed and reserved for C-Level Executives.
