The 12th Careers UAE exhibition once again confirmed its position as the most established recruitment, training and education event in the UAE, with exhibitors reporting increased numbers of highly skilled and qualified job seekers to their stands and an unprecedented number of career positions filled during the three day show.Held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the exhibition served as a platform for hundreds of serious job opportunities on offer by leading private and public sector organisations.
“Careers UAE continues to play a significant role in facilitating networking opportunities between companies in the UAE and the highest calibre UAE nationals serious about advancing their careers. This year the exhibition has been successful and we are delighted with the results,” said Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of the show.
More than 125 companies, organisations and authorities participated at this year’s show. Exhibiting for the fourth consecutive time and launching its second National Training Initiative, The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, reported a record number of visitors. Fatima Ibrahim, Project Executive, Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said: “Careers UAE is one of the biggest exhibitions for UAE nationals and on the whole, was extremely successful.On the first day of Careers 2012 H.H.Sheikh Majid honoured the first 73 candidates to graduate from our programme. This year participation increased by 80% through the exposure gained at the Careers UAE.”
Jamal Khalifa Lootah, Senior Director, National Recruitment & Development Human Resources & Shared Services, du, said: “This is our fourth year at Careers UAE; this year is very different to previous years as the candidates we have met are proving to be more mature. Focusing on what the company is offering in terms of training and looking at the long term experience, the mentality has definitely changed and the trust within companies has been gained. This year we have 100 job vacancies for fresh graduates in addition to other various positions available within the company. We received over 500 job application and this was only on the first day. We are very pleased with Careers UAE as the only exclusive local exhibition in the UAE and wish to maintain this trust.”
German-based industrial giant Siemens, which has over 180 jobs currently open in the UAE across its energy, healthcare, industrial and infrastructure sectors, reported outstanding results during the show. Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO for Siemens Energy in the Middle East, said: "We were overwhelmed with the quality of the young people attending the event and the amount of interest and applications we received. We have been in the region for over 150 years and have always had a commitment to the Middle East and its people, through training, knowledge transfer and vocational support.”
One of the world’s leading airlines, Emirates reported a record number of visitors to their stand this year. Masooma Hassan, Vice President National Development and Recruitment, Emirates, said: “We had a record number of visitors to the UAE Careers fair this year. With applications available online at our stand, interested candidates were able to directly enter their information, begin their recruitment process directly, and for high school graduates, complete the English online test. Recruiting for positions across dnata and Emirates Airline, the fair provided the right match between our growing recruitment needs due our expanding organisation and quality UAE candidates interested in exciting careers in aviation."
Leading telecommunications corporations, Etisalat, reported an excellent response from candidates at Careers UAE.Fayez Awad, Senior Vice President Human Resources, Etisalat, said: “We have participated at Careers UAE since the very first edition 12 years ago. In line with the UAE leaders’ vision, Etisalat is always seeking to recruit Emiratis. In the last four years, Etisalat has recruited 400 Emiratis. Careers UAE is without a doubt one of the ideal platforms to meet Emiratis.”
The second edition of Lunch with Leaders, a unique initiative that enabled ambitious young students to interact directly with business leaders for advice, direction and career insights was a much anticipated highlight.
This year also saw the launch of the first HR Leaders Forum and the first HR Leaders Awards programme, focused on excellence and best practice in the field of human capital management.
The three-day conference offered insights into the best practices for developing the leaders of tomorrow and creating the right environment for employees which will also benefit the companies in performing better and improving levels of productivity.
The line-up of inspirational speakers addressed potential misperceptions between Emiratis and the private sector, in addition to creating alignment between organizations’ strategy and HR plans.
