Being hosted at Dubai International Convention and Exhibitions Centre on 14 Feb 2012, Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST) was initiated in 2008 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, in order to motivate the business community to provide effective solutions that reduce the negative impacts of transportation issues in the UAE.

Each year, the Awards are given to the government or private companies that have enhanced the sustainability through innovative transportation solutions that increase mobility for all, while reducing transportation greenhouse and air pollution emissions, and improving safety.
