Location
Located at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and Europe, Dubai lies along the Eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the South West corner of the Arabian Gulf. On the southern approach to the Strait of Hormuz, this Emirate is well positioned as a vital transit point for world crude oil.
Covering a total land area of approximately 2,428 sq. miles, Dubai is one of the seven UAE emirates that lies on the calm, blue waters of the southern Gulf and is flanked by the majestic desert. Dubai Creek, a natural inlet from the Gulf divides the city into the Deira district to its north and Bur Dubai to its south. Ideally situated at the nexus of three continents, with most destinations in Europe, the Indian subcontinent, Saharan and sub-Saharan Africa lying within a 3-5 hour fly-path, Dubai has become the commerce and tourist hub of the region.
